History
Otay Ranch High School (ORHS) was built in 2003 as a part of the Sweetwater Union High School District and first opened to 9th and 10th graders and later accommodated 11th and 12th graders. Otay Ranch High School originally opened to relieve overcrowding from surrounding schools such as San Ysidro High School and Eastlake High School. It now serves students living in both the Otay Ranch and Rancho del Rey developments.
The first and current principal of Otay Ranch High School is Jose Brosz.
AOJ (Academy of Justice and Criminology) is a program available to ORHS students who are interested in a career of law enforcement. The program started sometime after 2003 and has been a program that helps guide ORHS students on the path towards a career towards the law enforcement. The program is also promoted by the Chula Vista Police Department.[citation needed]
DL ( Dual Language Program) is a program at ORHS available to bilingual (english and spanish) students. Students have 3 periods in spanish and 3 in english. This program helps students who want careers that require being bilingual, which has been increasing. This program lets the students graduate with bi-literacy ( a seal shown on their diplomas).
