The enrollment of the school is approximately 2,300 students, many of whom are of Hispanic descent.
Mar Vista has an award-winning Marine Science Academy called the Poseidon Academy. Students spend grades 9-12 in the academy. It is frequently called "a school within a school." A NJROTC program is also located on campus.
