Meyrick Wayne Pringle also known as 'Pring' was (born 22 June 1966 in Adelaide, South Africa) is a former South African cricketer who played in four Tests and seventeen ODIs from 1992 to 1995 and was one of SA's finest swing bowlers and one of the few who has ever mastered the art of swinging a tennis ball.

Early career

Pringle attended and played for Kingswood College (South Africa). As a teenager Pringle was greatly influenced by his Grandfather (Eric Pringle) who introduced him to the game of cricket, after touring England during his school days. Pringle then started realizing his passion was in bowling,today he is known as one of the best swing bowlers ever recorded in history and was known for his best for 4/11 vs the West Indies in the 1992 Cricket World Cup.

Provincial career

After matriculating in 1984 Pringle started playing provincial cricket for Orange Free State 1985-1986, Sussex1987-1998 , Eastern Province 1988-1989, Marylebone Cricket Club1989-1990, Western Province1990-1998 and Eastern Province 1998-2002.

International career

His first test debut for South Africa was Vs West Indies 1992-1993, (Only Test at Kensington Oval) capatained under Kepler Wessels. India Tour - 1993-1994, Pakistan Tour 1994-1995, England Tour 1996-1997, Golden Oldies World Cup 20/20 in Bermuda with South Africa winning in 2006.Meyrick also coached for Namibia and Netherlands.

Retirement

In 1996 Pringle announced his retirement from international cricket, his last test was with the England tour to South Africa on the 2nd test at the Wanderers Stadium where he took 1/46 and made 10 not out and the match ended up being a draw and his last ODI was vs Australia on the tour to Pakistan where he took 1/49 and was bowled lbw by Shane Warne


Coaching

Pringle has coached various cricket clubs in South Africa and recently coached and captained Edgemead cricket Club who were promoted to the 1B Leugue in the Western Province cricket association in early 2011, on February 2011 Pringle was appointed Coaching Director for Jaipur Cricket Academy in India (Jaipur) and has signed a 5 year contract where he works with Shamsher Singh also known as Bobby. Pringle is also keen and open to getting involved with the IPL Indian Premier League.

Hobbies

Pringle's hobbies include coaching cricket and game farming, during his farming days in the Eastern Cape he was brought up with animals and always wanted to start his own Game farming business with his one brother Stuart Pringle,until then he was involved in a major car accident.Pringle still coaches cricket and is involved with Edgemead cricket club and now is coaching director at the Jaipur Cricket Academy in India.

In 2010 Pringle started The Pringle Sports & Education Foundation and is currently managed by his cousin Grant Pringle.The foundation is aimed at establishing a system that ensures underprivileged children receive the education and sports training that they deserve. Thus, one of the main objectives is to raise funding and sponsorships towards the foundation which will help achieve this goal and aid in providing the disadvantaged children of the communities with the education they require in order to achieve their dreams.The Foundation is also involved in coaching clinics, club and school development and is also looking at working on international scholarship exchanges between various countries such as India.

Starting off with sponsorships for at least four individuals per year per school, the foundation initially focuses on involving existing school structure schools and clubs in the Western Cape, such as Somerset West College, South African College Schools (SACS) and Somerset West Cricket Club, as well as schools in developing areas, such as Khayelitsha.The foundation also works with schools and clubs in the Eastern Cape such as Kingswood College (South Africa) (where Pringle completed his schooling), Graeme College, Muir College, Grey High School (P.E.) and Greenbushes cricket club.

Pringle currently partakes in annual fund-raising events for his Foundation which include charity Golf days (Local and international), charity Events, charity club Events, Auctioning Events, Black Tie Events to which he invites fellow celebrities and cricketers like Brian McMillan, Adrian Kuiper, Fanie de Villiers and Herschelle Gibbs
