Fall - St. Louis radio stationKSHE flips from female-oriented rock to progressive rock, becoming one of the first progressive rock radio stations in the US.
*August 14 - The BritishMarine Broadcasting Offences Act was passed, making it an offense to advertise or supply an offshore radio station from the UK. This resulted in the closure of all of Britain's offshorepirate radio stations with the exception ofRadio Caroline .
