In Madrid on 7 July 1994 Konstantin-Assen married doña María García de la Rasilla y Gortázar, daughter of Álvaro García de la Rasilla y Pineda and wife María de Gortázar e Ybarra, paternal granddaughter of Enrique García de la Rasilla y Navarro-Reverter and wife Isabel Pineda y Oñate (died Madrid, 31 December 2010) and maternal granddaughter of Manuel María de Gortazar y Landecho, 9th Count of Superunda, City Councilor of the Ayuntamiento of Bilbao, and wife (m. Algorta, Getxo, Biscay, 8 November 1932) María del Rosario de Ybarra y Bergé (Bilbao, 13 June 1908 -), and niece of Ignacio de Gortázar e Ybarra, 10th Count of Superunda, all of whom are Basque.[2] In addition 'doña María García de la Rasilla y Gortázar is also maternally descended from the Noble and Illustrious House of de Sarachaga. Anales de la Real Academia Matritense de Heráldica y Genealogía.
Her maternal grandmother was a sister of Francisco Javier de Ybarra y Bergé, born in 1913, Spanish businessman, who after the Spanish Civil War became President of the Diputación of Biscay (1947–1950) and afterwards Alcalde of Bilbao (1963–1969), Academic of the Real Academía de la Historia, President of the daily newspaper Informaciones, President of the Bilbao Editorial, and editor of El Correo Español-El Pueblo Vasco. Ybarra was sequestrated for a ransom and murdered (execution-style murder with a gunshot in the back of the head) by ETA in June 1977.[3] His sons are the genealogist Juan Antonio de Ybarra e Ybarra, writer and author and Knight of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta[4] and Francisco Javier de Ybarra e Ybarra, author of the book Los Ybarra, in which he tells the story of his family, which includes Gabriel de Ybarra and Emilio de Ybarra, and author of La Casa de Salcedo de Aranguren, Bilbao, 1944, from which family they descend.
They have twins:

- HRH Princess Sofia Vidinska of Bulgaria, born 20 November 1999
He is the godfather of Infanta Sofía of Spain. The Infanta's father, Felipe, Prince of Asturias, is the godfather to Konstantin's own daughter, Sofia.
