Personal Aide-de-Camp

A Personal Aide-de-Camp to The Queen (or to The King, when appropriate) is a member of the British Royal Family with military rank who has been appointed one of the Sovereign's honorary military attendants.

Those currently holding such appointments are:

* FM "HRH" The Duke of Kent
* Adm "HRH" The Prince of Wales
* Mark Phillips Capt (Retd), former husband of The Princess Royal
* "1 February 1984–": Capt "HRH" The Duke of York
* "1 August 2004–": 2Lt "HRH" The Earl of Wessex
* "1 August 2004–": VAdm Timothy Laurence, husband of The Princess Royal

There are several other categories of senior Aides-de-Camp. Most are serving military, naval and air officers, usually of colonel or brigadier rank or equivalent. There are also specific posts for very senior officers, such as First and Principal Naval Aide-de-Camp, Flag Aide-de-Camp, Aide-de-Camp General, and Air Aide-de-Camp.
