List of named tropical cyclones

This is a list of named tropical cyclones, giving all official names for tropical cyclones. This includes Atlantic hurricane and Northeastern Pacific hurricane names from 1950 to 2008, Northwestern Pacific Typhoon names from 1945 to 2008, and North Indian cyclone names from 2004 to 2008. In the southern hemisphere this includes Southwest Indian Ocean names from 1960 to 2008, Australian cyclone names from 1963 to 2008 and South Pacific names from 1984 to 2008. It also lists Philippine names for typhoons from 1963 to 2008, though these are unofficial.

* Indicates it was a named though did not reach tropical storm status.^ Indicates it was a Central Pacific storm.Bolding indicates that the name was retired in that basin following the storm.

Records

*Most used names in all basins: Alice, Gloria and Nancy have each been used to name 19 tropical cyclones worldwide.
*Names used in the most basins: Barbara, Connie, Dora, Ella, Frank, Gloria, Hazel, Hilda, Ingrid, Karen and Kate have all been used to name tropical cyclones in 5 different basins.
*Most used name in the Atlantic: Arlene has been used to name 9 Atlantic storms.
*Most used name in the East Pacific: Carlotta, Estelle and Fernanda have each been used to name 9 East Pacific storms.
*Most used name in the West Pacific: Faye has been used to name 16 West Pacific storms.
*The shortest names used are "Ed", "Io", "Jo" and "Li" (two characters).
