Tropical Storm Hazel

Tropical Storm Hazel

The name Hazel has been used for two tropical cyclones in the Atlantic Ocean, three in the eastern Pacific Ocean, one in the western Pacific, and one in the Indian Ocean. It was used in all basins before formal naming systems were instituted. It has not been used since the six-year lists began, and will not be used again since it was retired due to the destruction in 1954.

North Atlantic:
* 1953's Tropical Storm Hazel
* 1954's Hurricane Hazel - killed over 1000 people in Haiti, caused heavy damage and death from South Carolina to Ontario, totalling up to $5 billion in damage (inflation-adjusted 2005 US dollars).

Northeast Pacific:
* 1963's Tropical Depression Hazel - was downgraded after the fact; it never warranted a name.
* 1965's Tropical Storm Hazel

Northwest Pacific:
* 1948's Typhoon Hazel

Indian Ocean:
* 1964-1965's Cyclone Hazel: southwest Indian Ocean in 1964-1965 season
