census GR|2 of 2000, there were 1,446 people, 526 households, and 399 families residing in the town. Thepopulation density was 37.4 people per square mile (14.5/km²). There were 555 housing units at an average density of 14.4/sq mi (5.5/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 91.01% White, 0.14% Black or African American, 5.26% Native American, 0.83% Asian, 2.07% from other races, and 0.69% from two or more races. 4.56% of the population wereHispanic orLatino of any race.There were 526 households out of which 35.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.1% were married couples living together, 8.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.1% were non-families. 20.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 6.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.17.
In the town the population was spread out with 30.7% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 29.4% from 25 to 44, 23.9% from 45 to 64, and 10.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 103.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 102.4 males.
