Medal record Women's Field Hockey Competitor for New Zealand
Commonwealth Games Bronze 1998 Kuala Lumpur Team Diana Elizabeth Weavers (born 4 May 1975 in Darfield, New Zealand) is a field hockey defender from New Zealand, who finished sixth with her national team at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. She also competed with The Black Sticks at the 1998 and the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
Career
In the 2005 season, Weavers, the vice-captain of the team, was one of only three players remaining from the Sydney Olympic Team. The other two wereSuzie Muirhead and Moira Senior. Weavers formed a defensive partnership with Lizzy Igasan. She was named the New Zealand Women’s Player of the Year in 2003. In 2005 she moved from Canterbury to Maketu, where she plays in the Tauranga Men's Hockey Competition. Weavers has a strong penalty corner strike and like Igasan is used as an alternative option to the team’s top striker, Niniwa Roberts-Lang. She scored six goals for the Canterbury Cats in the 2004 NHL.
