CityRail railway station on the South Coast railway line. It serves the suburb of Dunmore as well as being an indirect rail link to the suburb of Shellharbour. When the station was built, opening on9 November ,1887 , [Bozier, Rolfe, " [http://www.nswrail.net/locations/show.php?name=NSW:Dunmore/Shellharbour "New South Wales Railways: Dunmore (Shellharbour) Railway Station"] ." Accessed26 June ,2007 .] Shellharbour was a long way from the railway line, but has since grown and now borders the line. A new station ("Flinders") has been proposed by the Government to serve the growing area, but nothing has eventuated on this. Fact|date=June 2007Platforms/Service
The station has two side platforms- one on the main line and one on a passing loop, and is often used as a passing point for trains of the opposing direction to cross each other. The second platform was opened in 2001 as part of the extension of electrification to Kiama. [ Gullick, J. "Kiama Electrification- some facts and figures". Railway Digest, January 2002.] One of the side platforms can accommodate 4 V-Set carriages, the other only 2 V-Set Carriages.
