The so-called Bankstown circle service which operates through Regents Park via Strathfield and via Sydenham is actually an operational nuisance when trying to operate a memory timetable at 15 minute intervals. The problem is that the running time around the circle is rarely an exact multiple of 15 minutes. The solution proposed by the Clearways Project is to break the circle at Homebush and Lidcombe so that trains will shuttle between Homebush via Strathfield, City Circle, Sydenham, Bankstown, Regents Park and Lidcombe. The shuttle times can be rounded up to the next multiple of 15 minutes by adjusting the turnback times at Lidcome and Homebush.
