Global Indian International School Singapore

Global Indian International School Singapore (GIIS) is an international school in Singapore with three campuses known as the Queenstown campus, East Coast campus and Balestier campus. GIIS aims to cater primarily to the Indian expatriate community in Singapore, although some students of other nationalities also attend the school.

History

The school was established in 2002. It was the first Indian international school in Singapore and was originally known as the Indian Central School (ICS). In 2004, the school became part of the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan group and changed its name to Bhavan's Indian International School (BIIS). In 2006, the name school adopted its present name to reflect its expansion outside Singapore. GIIS now also has branches in Malaysia and Japan, New Zealand and Thailand.

The school's original campus in Singapore was at Mount Sophia (former campus of Methodist Girls' School and the Australian International School Singapore). The school soon outgrew the facilities available at Mount Sophia. In 2005, it moved to Queenstown (former campus of Mei Chin Secondary School and Mei Chin Primary School). A second campus in Singapore was opened in 2006 on the East Coast at Siglap (former campus of Siglap Secondary School and Rosemount Kindergarten). A third campus, which caters for primary-level students only, was opened in the Balestier area in 2008.
