It offers bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, and bachelor of science in nursing in partnership with Columbia College of Nursing degrees in over 60 undergraduate majors, and master of arts, master of business administration and master of science degrees in seven graduate programs.
Mount Mary College is noted for its various fashion programs — apparel product development and merchandise management — and interior design, art therapy, justice, and nursing programs.
The college is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. The current enrollment is over 1,700 students.
History
It was founded in Milwaukee in 1850 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame as a girls' seminary named St. Mary's Institute. It reopened in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin in 1872. The school introduced a college curriculum in 1913, and was renamed Mount Mary College, becoming the first women's college in Wisconsin. After the Archbishop of the Milwaukee Catholic Archdiocese requested that the college move to Milwaukee to serve a wider group of students, an 80-acre (32 ha) campus was purchased on the west side of Milwaukee. The cornerstone of the new school was laid in 1928, and it opened its doors to students in 1929.
Athletics
Mount Mary's athletic teams are known as the Blue Angels. They compete as an NCAA Division III Independent in six sports:
