Ononsky District (Russian: Ононский район) is an administrative[1] and municipal[2] district (raion), one of the 31 in Zabaykalsky Krai, Russia. The area of the district is 6,030 square kilometers (2,330 sq mi).[citation needed] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a selo) of Nizhny Tsasuchey.[1] Population: 11,197 (2010 Census preliminary results);[4] 13,614 (2002 Census);[8] 16,414 (1989 Census).[9] Population of Nizhny Tsasuchey accounts for 25.2% of the district's population.[8]

The district was established on February 5, 1941.[1]
