This story is set in the period after the Huanghuagang Uprising in the late Qing Dynasty. Wong Fei-hung travels to Guangzhou with his love interest Thirteenth Aunt, and disciples Leung Foon, Clubfoot, Bucktooth So and Kai. Wong buys an inn and sets up his Po Chi Lam clinic there, but he is drawn into the conflict between the government and a group of revolutionaries. Besides, Beggar So, Wong's sisuk, is wanted by the authorities for siding with the rebels.
While dealing with suspicion and pressure from the local governor, Wong secretly helps the rebels in their plans and pretends that he is not involved in the revolution. The rebels face a serious threat of traitors and spies among them, as many of their comrades have been tricked by government undercover agents and lured into traps, where they were either killed or captured. Wong is initially reluctant to join the revolutionaries, but has no choice because those around him are already part of the rebellion.
At one point, Wong feigns death to put the governor off guard so that he and the rebels can work better. Subsequently, he disguises himself and infiltrates the secret agency's base. The rebels attack and destroy the base after a fierce battle. The furious governor then sends troops to kill everyone in Po Chi Lam but fails. Wong goes to the coast to distract the soldiers there to buy time for Beggar So and the rebels to escape by sea. He succeeds, but is captured and sentenced to death. Wong's disciples storm the execution ground to save him and they flee with the soldiers hot on their heels until they reach a dead end. Just as they are about to be shot, they receive news that the central government has been overthrown by the Xinhai Revolution. Wong and his companions hug each other in joy.
