Background
The album includes a two-disc set: a CD with four recorded tracks and a DVD with 12 minutes of footage of Jackie's past performances and America's Got Talent appearances. It was released on November 16, 2010 and reached rank #1 on Amazon's bestsellers in music during pre-orders on October 19, 2010.[1]
Chart performance
O Holy Night debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 with 239,000 copies sold in its first week and dropped to #5 with another 142,000 copies sold in its second week.[2] This makes Evancho the top-selling debut artist for 2010, and the youngest female solo artist to debut in the top 10. The album also debuted at #1 on the Classical Albums Chart[3] and #2 on the Billboard Holiday Albums chart.[4] As of December 10, 2010, the album was certified platinum by the RIAA with sales in excess of a million copies in the US,[5] making Evancho the youngest female solo artist to go platinum. In Canada, it debuted at #1 on the Canadian Classical Albums Chart.[6] In January 2011, after the Christmas season, sales of the album fell, and it left the Billboard charts.[7]
As of May 31, 2011, the album had sold 1,025,000 copies in the US.[8] In October 2011, with the approach of Christmas, the album's sales increased; it re-entered the Billboard Holiday Albums chart at #10, and in November 2011 it re-entered the Billboard 200 chart, reaching #80 and moved up to #10 on the Billboard Catalogue Albums chart.[7]
