Melodi Grand Prix 2012
On 30 June, NRK announced their participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.[1]
The deadline to submit the songs was on 2 September 2011. A special jury will select the 24 songs which will proceed to the national selection. The artist who sings the song in the demo version, doesn’t necessarily mean that he or she will sing it in the national selection as well. NRK reserves the right to select a performer for any of the submitted songs.[2]
On 1 October 2011, NRK announced that more than 800 songs have been submitted, nearly one hundred more than in 2011.[3]
On 19 October 2011, the dates for next years events were revealed. The final will be held on 11 February 2012, at the Oslo Spektrum, with the three semi-finals being held on 21, 28 January and 4 February.[4]
