Promotion and relegation
In the seventh season of the Northern Premier League none of the teams were put forward for election to the Football League nor automatically promoted. Conversely, none of the sides were relegated, but Skelmersdale United and Fleetwood left the League at the end of the season. They were replaced by newly-admitted Frickley Athletic.
