Nimbus 2010 – Agamya Kritya Sidhya “Stripping Ideas Assembling Innovations”
The three day festival was opened by Sh. Ashwaghosh Ganju, director Snow and Avalanche Study Establishments, DRDO, and Dr T.P Shashikumar.
Day 1 of Nimbus 2010 was marked by a series of expert lectures and competitions. The day began with the marathon in which students circumscribed the campus. About 250 students of NIT Jalandhar, NIT Kurukshetra, and adjoining colleges of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh participated in it.
There were workshops on ethical hacking and web design, and at night there was a star gazing event - telescopes from Jantar Mantar observatory were arranged for this purpose.
The festival concluded with a performance by Indian rock band Parikrama.

- Department of Mechanical Engineering
- Car-De-Ology: The event was an opportunity to design and fabricate prototypes of technologies that could make the automobiles more efficient and more perfect. Participating teams had made prototypes of technologies employed in cars like 4WD, Air brake/spoiler and pressure sensing fuel injector.
- Metamorphosis: The event required conversion of a seemingly useless pile of junk into a fully working device.
- C.A.D. (Conceive, Analyse, Design): Teams undertook a CATIA V5 workshop followed by a 2 stage competition on modeling of CATIA part design and surface modeling.
- Mechanovation: Teams made prototypes of solutions to grass root problems that do not use electricity.
- Cannon Ball-Z: An event aimed at testing both the technical and mechanical skills of the participants. It involved constructing a cannon and using it as a trebuchet to throw a ball across a specified arena and achieve the maximum number of points.
- Department of Architecture
- Anangat: The event required the participants to design an eco high rise structure inculcating concepts of village lifestyle within a building fabric which could be better termed as “SKY VILLAGE”
- Udvij: The event was aimed at intensifying the innovating powers of participants by providing an architectural solution for homeless people by designing a house out of Junk.
- Tribalscape: A bamboo house was designed keeping in mind that the eco friendly spirit. As bamboo has high strength and is environment friendly too, the whole concept was applauded by Mr. Christopher C. Benningar.

Past exhibitions
- TIMBER TRAIL "PADDLING IN AIR"
- Transporting goods to and from an elevated height is a basic requirement in hilly regions. Not just at elevated heights, but at times transportation of horticulture produce and other essential goods across the valleys and rivers is essential in higher Himalayan regions. Timber trail as the name suggests is a mode of transport of goods. It is basically a ropeway which is a popular and cheap mode of transportation of goods in hilly areas using motors as drive.
In the exhibition, the electric motor was completely replaced by a complete mechanical driver so that the electricity constraint was detached which made it a better option to be used in rural areas where electricity is still a problem. - MOTORAMA
- It was a mini auto expo, which went a step ahead and included vehicle stripping.
Participant Companies: TATA, Hero Honda.
Bike Stripping: "Hero Honda Hunk" was dismantled it to the smallest bit by an expert. - SMART SENSORS
- This was a demonstration of various types of sensors, from the simple clap sensor to the principle of automatic robots which can sense obstacles. Lasting throughout the three days of NIMBUS’10, it showed all the aspects of sensor technology and provided an insight into the field.
- CONCRETION
- The go-green future welcomes innovation of crib retaining walls.[clarification needed] Concretion was an exploring display of this extravagant and rare piece of art, engineering and innovation.
- AERO MODELLING
- Nimbus inclued a demonstration of aero modelling as an unmanned aerial plane soared over everyone’s head.
- CORONA DISCHARGE
- This time at Nimbus 2010 Corona discharge was back... bigger and better than its previous avatar which no one had even seen...This Nimbus, all the folks saw lightning brought to earth, though artificially.
Past workshops at Nimbus

- CIRCUIT DESIGNING
- This workshop covered everything necessary for the continued understanding of the much more advanced topics presented these days in various circuits and systems in use in the industry.
All those dealing with electronic circuit designs and development require knowledge of basic electronic components. In this workshop they were made familiar with commonly used active and passive electronic components and then made to work on circuit designing using the knowledge of components.
Students were taught the use of basic building blocks of electronic circuits using sensors, 555 timers, op-amp and other commonly used circuits in making projects.
