He played for KK Partizan (1989–1995), Real Madrid Baloncesto, Pallacanestro Varese, Paris Basket Racing, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Joventut Badalona, CB Breogán, CB Estudiantes and Armani Jeans Milano.
Playing for KK Partizan, Lončar won the 1992 Euroleague, 2 national championships and 3 national cups. With the Yugoslav national team he took silver medal at the Olympic Games at Atlanta (1996), gold at the World Championship in 1998 and European gold and bronze medals (1997, 1999).
