The Caspian sand goby, Neogobius pallasi, is a Ponto-Caspian species of family Gobiidae. The areal of the goby is the fresh and brackish waters of the Caspian Sea basin, common in Volga drainage, upriver to Moscow. Introduced in Aral basin.[1] Earlier it was considered as the Caspian subspecies of the monkey goby, N. fluviatilis pallasi, but now erected as different species, specific for the Caspian basin.[2]
