National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers

The National Association of State Auditors, Comptrollers and Treasurers (NASACT) is an organization for U.S. state officials dealing with the financial management of state governments. Headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky, NASACT was founded in 1915. It states that its mission is "to assist state leaders in enhancing and promoting effective and efficient management of government resources." NASACT has three affiliates that share office space in Lexington and at the Office of Federal Relations in Washington, D.C., which handles lobbying efforts in Congress and the federal agencies:

• National State Auditors Association (NSAA) - organized 1979 for state auditors and senior staff. Holds annual conference each June and operates Peer Review Program, NSAA Information Technology Conference, and NSAA Middle Management Conference
• National Association of State Comptrollers (NASC) - organized 1978
• National Association of State Treasurers (NAST) - association of state treasurers or similar state finance officials in the United States; membership open to the treasurers of the U.S. states, commonwealths, organized territories, and District of Columbia. It "exists independently of NASACT" and is affiliated with the Council of State Governments.
  • The College Savings Plans Network (CSPN) and the State Debt Management Network (SDMN) were developed through NAST, and the National Association of Unclaimed Property Administrators (professionals dealing with unclaimed property affairs) is affiliated with the association. The association produces three publications (State Treasury Profiles), State Treasury Activities & Functions, and the Corporate Affiliate Handbook, and a newspaper, the NAST Review). It also holds conferences and other events.
