Founded in 1986 in response to the increasing industrialization of Jamshepdur, the institute affiliated to Council For Indian School Certificate and emphasized on practical instruction and all-round development of students form its early days.Curricular reforms under Mrs. Deepa Sengupta and Mrs. Meeta Jakhanwaal in the 1990s re-emphasized excellence in teaching and sports. Students were involved in wide spectra of participating events across the nation and internationally.
The current 8.4-acre (3.4 ha) campus extends over the eastern bank of Kharkai River. In the past 20 years, NHES's educational disciplines have expanded beyond a unidirectional fixed course to biology, foreign language, political science and computer science.
NHES had 2686 students enrolled under various departments for 2010-2011. It employs around 100 faculty members and 250 non-teaching staff.A strong entrepreneurial culture exists in NHES with large number of alumni going on the found companies of their own around the globe
History
In 1924, Narbheram Hansraj Gujrati Middle School was established to provide education to the children of Gujrati community by Dr. D.N Kamani.Though students form gujrati community were eased with the admission process, the school was open for interested students form all casts and communities.
