Namao is an unincorporated community in Alberta, Canada within Sturgeon County that is recognized as a designated place by Statistics Canada.[1] It is located on the south side of Township Road 554, 0.8 km (0.50 mi) east of Highway 28. The nearby Hamlet of Namao is located 6.0 km (3.7 mi) to the south.
This designated place consists of two country residential subdivisions – Namao Ridge and Sturgeon View Estates.[2][3] Namao Ridge, or Namao Ridge Estates, and Sturgeon View Estates were separate designated places in 2001.[4]
Demographics
As of the 2006 Census of Canada, Namao had a total population of 349 living in 129 dwellings, a 10.3% decrease from 2001. With a land area of 1.94 km2 (0.75 sq mi), it had a population density of 179.6 /km2 (465 /sq mi).[1]
In 2001 Census of Canada, the former designated places of Namao Ridge Estates and Sturgeon Valley Estates had populations of 262 and 127 respectively for a combined population of 389.[4]
