Disappointed that his first-born child is a girl instead of a hoped-for son, Chen and his family planned to give away Jade to an orphanage. In chinese culture, a first born daughter is bad luck. Full of sorrow, Zheny secretly went back to the Philippines to keep and save baby Jade. Years later, Chen discovers that Zheny also gave birth to a son named Yuan, but does not know that he died after being born. Throughout the series, Jade meets Andy and Trevor, the Wu brothers who later develops feelings for her while Onyx, Jade's childhood friend also competes for her heart. A rather mysterious girl named Amber enters the scene as ChenJean's newest employee who thought she was Chen's daughter from her mother Lorraine but was proven wrong after a DNA test, she is now solely devoted to ruin Jade and Andy's relationship because of her obsession for Andy and failing is not an option.
