Munsirhat (Bengali: মুন্সীরহাট) is part of the Jagatballavpur bloc in the Howrah Sadar subdivision of the Howrah district in the Indian state of West Bengal.

Geography

Munsirhat is located at 22°39′N 88°05′E / 22.65°N 88.08°E / 22.65; 88.08

Transport

It is a station in the HowrahAmta section[1] of Kolkata Suburban Railway system. This area has two railway stations, Munshirhat and Mahendralalnagar. A later station is about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) away from the main town, but near the village of Dhasa. Munsirhat is 39.57 kilometres (24.59 mi) from Howrah Station.[2]

Munsirhat is on the HowrahAmta bus route.

Economics

Munsirhat has about fifty units manufacturing spectacles.[3] It is one of the markets of the district.[4]

Culture

Sekrahati village is adjacent to the Munsirhat bus stop. There is a century old atchala temple and rasmancha in Ghoshpara in Sekrahati.[5]
