Mountain View was included on Sports Illustrated's 2005 list of Top 25 High School Athletic Programs in the Nation:
Though the school hasn't been around for long, Mountain View has quickly established itself as king of the hill in Arizona. In the last decade the Toros have produced scores of top athletes, including Todd Heap and John Beck (Washington Redskins), Shea Hillenbrand (Toronto Blue Jays) and Max Hall (Arizona Cardinals). More stars are on the horizon: Mountain View has had 15 scholarship athletes in each of the last two years. And over the last 10 years, the Toros have won 21 state championships in 10 sports, including football (four), boys' track (four), boys' basketball (three), girls' track (three), spiritline (6+), and boys' and girls' cross-country, girls' swimming, girls' volleyball, girls' basketball, wrestling and baseball (one each).[1]

Academic Decathlon
Mountain View High School has accomplished 15 state championships (the most in Arizona Academic Decathlon history) and four state championship winning streaks since 1990. Each streak has lasted for at least two years (5, 2, 4 and 2 respectively). In addition, the team has broken the 50,000 barrier three times. Mountain View has finished second at the national USAD competition on five occasions(1992, 1994, 2004, 2005, 2010).

- 4A/5A winner of the Blue Cup sponsored by The Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona. Criteria for winning: "Winning schools must not only attain a high overall excellence score based on achievement in music, speech and athletics, but also maintain high academic standards and overall student participation in athletics and other activities."[2]
- Mountain View was listed as the Arizona 2007 winner of the Siemen's Foundation top Advanced Placement programs.[3]
- Arizona Interscholastic Association Scholar Athletes Award for 3.5 or higher grade point average among student athletes.
- Hendrickson Award - AIA's top award for top interscholastic programs in 5A competition.

- In the 1997-98 school year, Mountain View became the first Arizona high school ever to win state championships in football, boys basketball, girls basketball, and baseball in the same school year.
- Out of the Fifty states, Sports Illustrated's website lists Mountain View as the top high school in Arizona on the basis of excellence in athletics.[4]
- The 1976 Football team finished 4-3-1 and is reportedly the first high school to have a winning football season in the first year of a school's existence. The team was composed primarily of juniors.
- The 1977 Football team (9-0) had 7 shutouts in the second year of the schools existence, allowing only 14 points (1.56 points per game) for the season. The team was ineligible for the Class 3A playoffs due to the tradition of the time that the football teams of new schools were not placed into any Classification and played an "independent" schedule.
- The 1983 Championship Football Team(14-0) tied the state record with the former Phoenix Union High School for shutouts in a season with 7.
- The 2002 Championship Football Team (14-0) set the state record for shutouts in a season with 8 (34 points allowed in 14 games or 2.43 points per game). The team also set a 5A record for points scored in a season with 602 (43 points per game).[citation needed]
- The Boys Varsity Basketball Team became the first team since Phoenix Union High School to win 3 Consecutive Championships at the highest level.
- The Toro Marching Band has been awarded the state festival rating "superior with distinction" in 2006, 2008, and 2010 as well as "superior" numerous times. In 2006, the band was invited to march in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Ireland. 2004-2005 Performed at the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. 2002-2003 Performed for President George W. Bush, 10-Day Tour of China. In 2008, the band played at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL. In 2009, the band performed at the Fiesta Bowl National Band Championships in Tempe, Arizona. The Toro Marching Band has been invited to play and march at the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2011.
