Sports Illustrated 's "Top 25 High School Athletic Programs in the Nation" list. "Though the school hasn't been around for long, Mountain View has quickly established itself as king of the hill in Arizona. In the last decade the Toros have produced scores of top athletes, including Todd Heap (Baltimore Ravens) and Shea Hillenbrand (Toronto Blue Jays). More stars are on the horizon: Mountain View has had 15 scholarship athletes in each of the last two years. And over the last 10 years, the Toros have won 21 state championships in 10 sports, including football (four), boys' track (four), boys' basketball (three), girls' track (three), and boys' and girls' cross-country, girls' swimming, girls' volleyball, girls' basketball, wrestling and baseball (one each)." In the 1997-98 school year, Mountain View became the first Arizona high school ever to win state championships in football, boys basketball, girls basketball, and baseball in the same school year.

The 1983 Championship Football Team(14-0) tied the state record with the former Phoenix Union High School for shutouts in a season with 7 : v.Westwood 31-0 v.Corona 31-0 v.Chaparral 55-0 v.Moon Valley 28-0 v.Saguaro 28-0 v.Sierra Vista Buena 36-0 and v.Mesa 45-0. Also became only the Second team in Mesa District History with an unbeaten season.Toro football continues to establish itself a powerhouse despite not having as many big players as their opponents.
The Boys Varsity Basketball Team became the first team since Phoenix Union High School to win 3 Consecutive Championships at the highest level.
The Toro Marching Band has been awarded the rating "superior with distinction" in 2006 as well as "superior" many times. In 2006, the band was invited to march in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Ireland. 2004-2005 Performed at the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl in New Orleans. 2002-2003 Performed for President George W. Bush, 10-Day Tour of China. In 2008, the band is scheduled to play at the Gator Bowl in Jacksonville, FL.
The 2007-2008 Boys Basketball Team won the 3rd Annual George Maldonado Classic in Reno, Nevada beating Galena High School in the title game64-59(OT)
