Mount McCallum

Mount McCallum (71°1′S 162°45′E / 71.017°S 162.75°E / -71.017; 162.75) is a peak rising to about 2,200 m immediately northwest of 2,590-metre Mount Marwick, in the Explorers Range, Bowers Mountains. The naming was proposed by M.G. Laird, leader of a New Zealand Antarctic Research Program (NZARP) geological party to the area, 1981-82. Named after G. McCallum, New Zealand scientist and mountaineer who perished in an avalanche on Mount Ruapehu, New Zealand, in 1981. He worked in Antarctica in the 1963-64 season.
