Nazrul has represent five different team in his career. The most success he ever achieve in his career is with Selangor FA. During 2005 Malaysia League season, he help Selangor to win treble trophy (Malaysia Premier League, Malaysia FA Cup and Malaysia Cup). Year 2009, he help Kelantan FA to play at final Malaysia Cup but lose to Negeri Sembilan FA 3-1.
On the international stage, Nazrul only capped once for Malaysia in the match against Cambodia on 18 June 2007. He also selected in Malaysia 2007 Asian Cup squad but did not have the chances to play.
