History

Company president Oliver Wong founded parent company Far East American, Inc. (FEA), a plywood trading company, in 1984.[2] In 1989, Mr. Wong returned to his home country of Indonesia to found PT Domusindo Perdana, a furniture factory specialized in the production of wood beds and cribs. Far East American distributed Domusindo's products in the North American market until 1994, when Mr. Wong founded Modus Furniture International, Inc., a privately held California corporation.[3]

Working in partnership with Domusindo, Modus Furniture expanded its product line to include casegoods in the 1990s. Although Mr. Wong has since divested his stake in Domusindo, the companies maintain a close relationship. In 2000, Modus began sourcing products from China, Malaysia and Vietnam, which enabled the company to expand its product offerings beyond Domusindo's manufacturing capabilities to include dining room furniture, home entertainment centers and upholstered beds.

Modus Furniture is headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with showrooms in High Point, NC,[4] Las Vegas, NV[5] and a distribution center in Fontana, CA.[6]
