- Mirna (Sava)

The Mirna is a river in Slovenia. The river, in which the marathon swimmer Martin Strel first learned to swim,[1] is a tributary of the Sava River in the province of Lower Carniola. It is 44 kilometers (27 mi) long,[2] starts below the settlement of Velika Preska,[3] flows through the Mirna Valley and joins the Sava near Boštanj. Mirna is a major settlement on the river. At the confluence of the Mirna River and Vejar Creek are Mirna Castle and a man-made pond.
