frozen =Lake Bohinj ( _sl. Bohinjsko jezero) is the largest permanent
lake inSlovenia . [Lake Cerknica , anintermittent lake , is larger than Lake Bohinj during its flood seasons, but disappears entirely during dry seasons.] Lake Bohinj is located in theBohinj municipality in the north-west of the country, and is insideTriglav National Park .Lake Bohinj is 4.2 km long and 1 km at its maximum width. It is a glacial lake dammed by a
moraine .The largest of the streams that flow into the lake, the
Savica ("little Sava"), is fed from "Črno jezero" (Black Lake), the largest lake in theTriglav Lakes Valley .The outflow is the
Jezernica which merges with theMostnica to form theSava Bohinjka (which in turn merges withSava Dolinka to become theSava ).The area is associatedclarifyme with the legendary "
Zlatorog ", a whitechamois with golden horns. A statue of the creature stands beside the lake.Notes
