The New South Wales Minister for Police and Emergency Services has responsibilities which includes bus and ferry policy, contracting and regulation, rail policy, fares and concessions, and taxi and hire car policy and regulation. It also coordinates funding arrangements for transport operators, including hundreds of local and community transport operators.[citation needed]

The current Minister for Police and Emergency Services is Mike Gallacher. The following agencies are part of this portfolio: New South Wales Ministry for Police, the New South Wales Crime Commission, the New South Wales Police Force and the Police Integrity Commission. The Emergency Services portfolio is responsible for fire and rescue services in New South Wales including: Emergency Management NSW, Fire and Rescue NSW, the New South Wales Rural Fire Service and the New South Wales State Emergency Service.
