The department does this by working with and supporting the vast range of businesses and industries across the State to advance investment, innovation, activity and improvements across all industry sectors.
The goals of the department are to improve the performance of the NSW economy, drive economic growth in regional New South Wales, increase the competitiveness of doing business in New South Wales, secure potable water supplies, and enhance cultural, creative, sporting and recreational opportunities.[1]
The Department is led by its Director General, Mark Paterson AO, who reports to the Deputy Premier, Minister for Trade and Investment and Minister for Regional Infrastructure and Services, presently the Honourable Andrew Stoner MP.
The large portfolio is supported by three other Ministers:
- the Minister for Resources and Energy, Special Minister of State, Minister for the Central Coast, presently the Honourable Chris Hartcher MP;
- the Minister for Tourism, Major Events, Hospitality and Racing and Minister for the Arts, presently the Honourable George Souris MP; and
- the Minister for Primary Industries and Minister for Small Business, presently the Honourable Katrina Hodgkinson MP.
