The Sydney Catchment Authority (SCA) is an agency of the Government of New South Wales that manages Sydney's drinking water catchments and supplies bulk water to Sydney Water and other agencies.
The Authority was created in 1999 by the "Sydney Water Catchment Management Act 1998". Under the act, the roles of the SCA are::(a) to manage and protect the catchment areas and catchment infrastructure works:(b) to be a supplier of bulk water, and:(c) to regulate certain activities within or affecting the outer catchment area as well as the inner catchment area.ref|SWCMA
The SCA manages a total of 21 storage dams (11 major dams), as well as adjacent recreational areas.
