Michael Fullilove

Michael Fullilove is an Australian author and foreign policy commentator. He is currently the Director of the Global Issues Program at the Lowy Institute for International Policy in Sydney and a Nonresident Senior Fellow in Foreign Policy at the Brookings Institution in Washington, DC. His areas of expertise include Australian foreign policy, US foreign policy and politics, the United Nations, and diasporas.

Fullilove attended North Sydney Boys High School where he was school captain, dux of the school and a champion debater. He completed a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of New South Wales, graduating with dual university medals. He was awarded a Rhodes Scholarship to the University of Oxford, where he earned a Master of Philosophy and a Doctor of Philosophy in international relations. He worked as a lawyer, a consultant to Frank Lowy AC on the establishment of the Lowy Institute, and an advisor to Australian Prime Minister Paul Keating.

Fullilove has published more than one hundred articles in publications including The New York Times,[1] The Financial Times,[2][3] The Washington Post, Slate,[4] The Daily Beast,[5][6] the Los Angeles Times, The Christian Science Monitor, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, The Australian,[7] The Australian Financial Review, The Spectator,[8] The National Interest,[9] and Foreign Affairs.[10] He appears frequently on the ABC to discuss foreign policy. Fullilove’s first book, ‘Men and Women of Australia!’ Our Greatest Modern Speeches,[11] was published by Vintage. His next book, on the Second World War, will be published by The Penguin Press.
