Biography
Busbee was born in Walnut Creek, California. His first music making experiences began with the piano at age 7. In high school he studied jazz while predominately focusing on trombone. Busbee freelanced as a trombone player in and around New York City and San Francisco recording for multiple artists including Smash Mouth.[2] He eventually moved to Los Angeles to work for Eric Valentine. After a year with Valentine, he briefly worked for Rhett Lawrence[3] and then began freelancing. In 2007 he signed a publishing deal with Dann Huff and Darrell Franklin (and Crosstown Songs).
Busbee has worked with a wide range of artists including Mercury, Timbaland,[4] Keith Urban, Katy Perry, Rascal Flatts,[5] Lady Antebellum,[6] Alexandra Burke,[7] Flo Rida, Jason Aldean, Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry, Toni Braxton, Adam Lambert, Backstreet Boys, Mike Posner, Jessica Sutta (Pussy Cat Dolls), Hunter Hayes, Kris Allen, Better Than Ezra, Shifty Shellshock (Crazy Town), LeAnn Rimes, All Star Weekend, Cady Groves, Liz Phair, Switchfoot, Westlife, Elliott Yamin, Smash Mouth, Katharine McPhee, Danny Gokey, Project 86, Mitchell Musso, Glen Phillips, My Favorite Highway, Tata Young, Rosie Thomas, Vedera, Phil Stacey, Jaymes Reunion, Cameron Jaymes, Victoria Beckham, Mel C, Anastacia, Dima Bilan and Lee DeWyze, Giorgia Todrani.
His song "Our Kind of Love" was taken to #1 by Lady Antebellum and his Alexandra Burke song "Bad Boys Ft. Flo Rida" was #1 in the UK. Girl Generation had a #1 in Japan with his song "Run Devil Run." As well, "Summer NIghts" reached #2 in the country charts and "If We Ever Meet Again" was #3 in the UK.
He has also had many songs used in film, TV and commercials including the song "Promise Ring" which was featured in the Mandy Moore movie How To Deal and the song "Let It Out" which is in the film Bonneville. The Elliott Yamin song "In Love With You Forever" was used in a Japanese released Toyota commercial.[8] Ashylne Huff's song "Trippin' It Up" was featured on the soundtrack of the made-for-TV movie Secrets of the Mountain, which premiered on NBC April 16. With American Idol's Randy Jackson serving as the music supervisor, the movie was sponsored by Procter & Gamble and Wal-Mart, who released the film as a DVD/soundtrack package exclusively on April 17, 2010.[9]
Busbee has recorded two albums as a solo artist and one EP with his band GoNorthToGoSouth.[10]
He is managed by Myles Lewis and writes for BMG Rights Management [11] and he and his wife live in Los Angeles, CA.[12]
