Medal record Men's swimming Competitor for the United States Olympic Games Gold 1964 Tokyo 4×100 m freestyle relay Michael MacKay "Mike" Austin (born August 26, 1943 in West Orange, New Jersey) is a former American swimmer. He represented the United States at the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where he won a gold medal in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay with Stephen Clark, Gary Ilman, and Don Schollander in world record time.[1] He also placed sixth in the individual 100-meter freestyle. Austin attended Yale University and graduated in 1964. In 2006, Austin donated his gold medal to his alma mater.
