Pony CanyonMayu Watanabe (渡辺 麻友 Watanabe Mayu , born March 26, 1994 in Saitama Prefecture) is a member of the Japanese idol group AKB48 Team B.[1][2] She is also a member of Watarirouka Hashiritai and Team Dragon from AKB48.[1]

Biography
2007–2009
In 2006, Watanabe was chosen out of 13,000 applicants to become a member of the Japanese idol group AKB48.
She has been selected as the selection member since the 4th single "BINGO!" (2007).
Her nickname "Mayuyu" was chosen by Rumi Yonezawa.[citation needed]
Watanabe placed 4th in the 13th single members selection which took place in the end of June - beginning of July, 2009.[3]
2010
Mayuyu ranked 5th in the 17th Single Senbatsu Election.[4][5]
At the end of October, 2010, Mayu Watanabe appeared on the cover of the December issue of UP to boy magazine together with Airi Suzuki from °C-ute. That was the first gravure collaboration between Hello! Project and AKB48.[6]
2011
In the preliminary results of the Third Senbatsu Election, announced on May 25, Mayu Watanabe is in 5th place.[7]
In the Third Senbatsu Election, on June 08 2011, she achieved 5th place, thereby maintaining her position from the previous Senbatsu Election.[8]
