She has been part of the "Senbatsu" group in the all singles except "Chance no Junban", released as AKB48. She is one of three members of Chocolove from AKB48, which became defunct after Rina Nakanishi's graduation from AKB48. She is also one of four members of DiVA, the latest spin-off unit from AKB48, along with Sayaka Akimoto, Yuka Masuda, and Ayaka Umeda.

Career
In February 2006, she auditioned and was chosen as one of 19 members of second group of AKB48, Team K, out of 11892 applicants. She debuted on stage on the 1st of April, 2006 as a part of Team K.
When AKB 48 made its major debut with their first single under a major label, "Aitakatta", she was chosen one of 20 members, and being chosen as "Senbatsu" members since then, until she lost to one of Team B member as well as her high school classmate, Natsuki Sato at the second round of "Janken Senbatsu" event and not chosen as a "Senbatsu" member of 19th single, "Chance no Junban". She has chosen as a "Senbatsu" member from the following single "Sakura no Ki ni Narō", released in February 2011.
She is one of co-hostess of nationwide-broadcasted radio program with her own name, AKB48 Akimoto Sayaka, Miyazawa Sae no Ukkari Channel (AKB48秋元才加・宮澤佐江のうっかりチャンネル ), since October 2010.[1][2] Because of their height, comparably taller among the team members, as well as their key roles in Team K, Akimoto and Miyazawa are frequently referred to as "Twin Towers" of Team K.
In January 2011, Photo Exhibition of her self portraits was held at AKB48 Official Shop in Hong Kong,[3] then she visited Hong Kong on 28 January and attended a series of events, including AKB48 Cosplay Event held in Dragon Centre in Kowloon, Hong Kong.[4]
