Master of Professional Communication

The Master of Professional Communication (MPC) is a specialized academic degree that is typically conferred by a four-year college or university. The degree incorporates communication theory and practice-based projects to provide a balanced education for career enhancement.

Students enrolled in MPC programs work to gain expertise in specific areas of professional communication, and to develop a broad understanding of relevant practices in a rapidly changing field. Typical areas of study include writing, editing, multimedia production, rhetoric and visual communication. The competencies gained from a MPC education benefit professionals in many different career fields, including public relations, communication technology, communication management, corporate communications and marketing.

The MPC degree typically requires two years of full-time study, but may take longer when undertaken on a part-time basis. It is not unusual for working professional to take three or more years to complete the required coursework.
