Route description

Maryland Route 137 begins at Gunpowder Road in Armacost and travels south carrying Mount Carmel Road, beginning its eastern path at Pleasant Meadow Road. Part of Gunpowder Road not on the Maryland highway system leads west from this intersection and into Carroll County, Maryland, dropping off in the middle of downtown Hampstead, Maryland at the traffic circle. MD 137 soon crosses MD 25 (Falls Road) and is fronted more closely by homes as it weaves through the open country. It features a wide diamond interchange with Interstate 83 and soon meets its end in Hereford at MD 45 (York Road), with a commercial area beginning to front the very end of the road beyond the Interstate.
