Career
Journalism
She had started her career as a journalist in 1990. She had been worker as an article writer. Sub Editor, Editor Women’s Page, Editor Students’ Page and Member of Investigative Team in different national dailies Daily News, Daily Jang, Khabrein. After that, she had worked with Crescent Model School and Pamir Knot College, as subject specialist Chemistry and English Linguistics. She lives in Islamabad, Pakistan.
Organizational activism and feminism
She joined South Asia Partnership Pakistan, She has established many organizations for women which are working in Punjab and Sindh. In 2000, she joined Institute of Overseas Pakistanis and contributed in Pakistan Institute of Legislative Development and Transparency. She also joined the Aurat Foundation's Legislative Watch Programme in 2001 for working for the betterment of women.
International activism
She had travelled in many countries. She was the part of International Visitors Leadership Programme (IVLP) run by State Department of United States of America, in 2004. She is nitiative for Peace in South Asia (WIPSA), Women’s Action Forum, Insaani Haqooq Ittehad, Pakistan India Peoples Forum, South Asian Free Media Association, and Pakistan Forum for Social Democracy. She has been visiting SAARC region as member of high profile delegations.
Activism in Pakistan
She is a human rights activist in Pakistan. She is trying to make Pakistan a secular state rather than Islamist state. She was arrested in November 2007 for raising unconstitutional step of enforcing Emergency.[1] [2][3]
Controversies
As she writes for SAFMA, she had been alleged for the relationship with Indian Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). A Pakistani security analyst Zaid Hamid alleged during a program on Express News.[disambiguation needed ][4] [5]
She had alleged Zaid Hamid a agent of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) in her columns of SAFMA. Both the analysts were invited on a famous program of Dr. Shahid Masood. Zaid Hamid asserted that the allegation is false and that she is RAW funded, which promotes Indian foreign policy in Pakistan. He said that it is against Pakistan. He also said that he will defend Pakistan.[5][6] [7]
