Mark is also a North Lanarkshire Councillor.[2]
Mark gained cross-party praise when elected to the Scottish Parliament by continuing to serve as a Councillor without receiving his council salary to save the public purse.[citation needed]
Upon his election at the age of 25, Mark became not only the youngest MSP of the current Parliament, but the youngest in the history of the Parliament..[3]
He sits on the Local Government and Regeneration Committee..[4]
