It was launched during the 2007 International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) and Conference in Abu Dhabi, the largest arms exhibition in the Middle East.[2][3][4]

Mobility
With a curb weight of 9,900 kilograms (22,000 lb) and a payload weight of 5,100 kilograms (11,000 lb), the Marauder was developed for reconnaissance and peacekeeping missions. It is able to carry a crew of ten, including a driver and commander.
The vehicle was originally designed to operate in urban settings, and built-up and confined areas. As such, it is smaller in both size and weight than the Matador, another armoured, mine-protected vehicle from the Paramount Group stable. The Marauder—which has the option of 4x4 or a 6x6 vehicle configuration—has a shorter wheelbase and a tighter turning circle, making it extremely agile and maneuverable.[5]
The Marauder has a cruising speed of around 100 to 120 kilometres per hour (62–75 mph), and a maximum range of 700 kilometres (430 mi).
Armour
The Marauder’s double-skin monocoque hull provides all-round protection against projectiles up to STANAG 4569 Level III for the crew compartment.[6]
Armament
The Marauder’s payload capacity allows for the fitting of various defence and weapons systems, including light and medium-calibre machine guns, cannon weapon installations, and missile launchers, as well as command, surveillance, and control systems. The vehicle can be configured such that mortars may be fired from the payload platform.[7]
Production
In 2008, for the manufacturing and production of the Marauder, the Paramount Group entered into an agreement with the King Abdullah Design and Development Bureau (KADDB), Jordan’s primary governmental military agency that develops and manufactures defence systems,[8] and which serves as an independent technical advisor to the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF). Apart from being a manufacturer, Jordan was the first customer for the Marauder.[9]
During the 2008 Special Operations Forces Exhibition (SOFEX) in the Jordanian capital of Amman, the Jordan Armed Forces announced its interest in using Matadors for security and peacekeeping roles.[10]
In popular culture
In June 2011, the Marauder was featured in British motoring program Top Gear,[11] with Richard Hammond showcasing it as a successor to the discontinued Hummer. Among the activities tested were ordering fast-food from a drive-through restaurant, driving off-road and over cars, and — specifically in comparison with the (non military) Hummer H3 — being blasted by seven pounds of plastic explosive.[12] Unlike the (civilian spec) Hummer, which was completely destroyed by the explosion, the Marauder was still operational and sustained only minor damage for the most part, although it did drive off with a flat tire.
