Subdivisions: —Maran or Maric is a branch of the Pama–Nyungan family of Australian languages, one accepted by Dixon. Maric languages are:
- Bidyara
- Biri
- Warrungu
and presumably the following, which have been extinct longer and are poorly attested:
- Ngaygungu
- Yirandhali
- Gunya
Ngura was once lumped in with the Karnic branch of Pama–Nyungan. There is not enough data to classify it any confidence, and it may be Maric.
