Olympic medal record Men's field hockey Gold 1980 Moscow Team Competition Maneyapanda Muthanna Somaya is a former Indian field hockey player from Coorg, Karnataka.[1] He was a member of Indian squad in many international games, including the team that won the Gold medal at the Moscow Olympic Games.[2] Somaya went on to play two more Olympic Games, viz., Los Angeles Olympic Games, and Seoul Olympic Games.[3]
In 2007 Somaya was bestowed the Life Time Achievement award by the Government of India.[2] He is also a recipient of Arjuna Award.[4] He works for Bharat Petroleum in Mumbai.
