Maney Hill Primary School

Maney Hill Primary School

Maney Hill Primary School is a small, one form entry primary school located on Maney Hill Road, Sutton Coldfield. The current headteacher is Miss J. Thomas, and the deputy head is Mrs. L. Maughn (2009).[1] The school has a focus on creating a strong community, as the school in itself is small. A large proportion of the Year 6 students who finish at this school go to the nearby secondary school of Plantsbrook, a Technology and Music College.[2] The Maney Hill School Association has been raising money for the school for over 25 years. They have teamed up with easyfundraising.org.uk to make fundraising more efficient.[3]

Architecture

The school is entirely one story, with the classrooms leading off from a large main hall. There is an entrance for visitors which leads into the trophy room, the main hall and the staff room. Connected to the main hall is the kitchen on the southern end, where the school prepares meals for the children when they arrive in the hall for dinner at approximately 12:15. There are two playgrounds, one for years Reception - years 2, and a second, larger one adjacent to the field for years 3-6. The school also has a separate building for the 'Reception', a preliminary year that introduces the youngest of the pupils. The school is planning to add a roof to the main hall and have it extended in 2010. The schools latest overall score was marked Outstanding; the highest possible available mark.

Integrated Nursery

Maney Hill operates an afterschool nursery, located in a separate building. It caters for very young children and students unable to return immediately home. It has enjoyed continuous use throughout the school's history.
